Does giving a gift count as begging?
In a way, yes, she knows you want her back and using a gift as a way of ‘buying’ her back. It might work for some, but it probably won’t last.

I don’t feel this is really necessary unless you have unresolved feelings you need to get out. Although I still feel in that regard, you should write your feelings down but NOT send it. Often a letter will not do much good, sometimes even making things worse.

I would agree that NO contact plays an important role here. Avoiding to contact your ex for at least 4 weeks or so, make them feel lonely and when their loneliness peak after 4 weeks, likelihood is they will initiate the contact with you, that's the time that you can kick start your get your ex back plan
I don't really think that the No Contact rule applies to every person. I mean that everybody is unique , you have to analyze that person just a little bit and try to figure out if that is the best move you can make. In some cases, small talk or even rare comments are well appreciated, so this strategy to get your ex back can also work
